Letter from the Mayor

Dear Nicosians,

Day by day, we are diversifying our municipal activities to solve the cumulative problems of Nicosia within the  framework of  “A new vision of Modern Municipality”. We are developing our services by gathering the latest and modern technology of Europe with the intensive efforts of our dedicated staff.

Our principal aim is to recreate Nicosia to be an enviable city in cultural, artistic and infrastructural aspects.  Within this context, we give especial importance to infrastructure. Our projects about the changing of the water pipes, sewerage works, pavements and drainage lines are continuing relentlessly.

Besides the infrastructure works, our projects for creating permanent works that our citizens may benefit from are continuing thanks to your support. Our new City Hall, which  brings a new vision to local government management, has started to provide versatile services. Nonetheless, we added a new chain to our healthy life philosophy with a modern, fully equiped slaughterhouse, the construction of which we have already started on the day of our 50th Anniversary, June 16th 2008.

With the project of the new Theatre Buiding, we aim to provide convenient working conditions to our units and a comfortable atmosphere to watch the cultural and artistic activities. We give high importance to the parks which are one of the cornerstones of modern urbanism. Within this context, besides embellishing the current parks, we are also providing their security. We beautified the Çağlayan Park, which is one of the symbolic parks of Nicosia, in cooperation with the Greater Municipality of Ankara. Besides the Kucuk Kaymaklı park, our efforts to bring our parks to desired levels are continuing.

Besides the aforementioned main works, we expanded our services with our newly established units. Within this context, as the Nicosia Turkish Municipality, we are continiously and perfectly perpetuating our works from health to security, from cleaning to social services.

We created the “185 Hotline’’ to inform the related departments of citizens’ complaints and to solve their problems immediately.

Dear Nicosians, as the Nicosia Turkish Municipality, our works to bring Nicosia upto modern standarts will continue nonstop. The motivation that I take from you is bringing my service appetite to highest levels. We have the chance to make Nicosia “the city of dreams” by joining our hands with our citizens.
