The events of the 50th Anniversary of the NTM started with a great Carnaval Parade yesterday night.

The Mayor of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality, Cemal Bulutoğluları, some municipal council members, municipal staff, groups which will be taking stage at the celebration events and the citizens attended the Carnaval Parade which started from Nicosia AKM.

The warm interest  of the citizens to the first Carnaval Parade in Nicosia was great. The Nicosia Turkish Municipality Folk Music Chorus and Nicosia Municipal Orchestra performed concerts during the Parade.

Cyprus Turkish Classic Cars Association and NTM Sport Clubs have also attended the event.

After the Carnaval Parade, which continued until Beer Garden with the participation of the Municipal vehicles, the Mayor of the NTM, Bulutoğluları gave a reception to the equips.

The Coordinator of the Culture and Arts of NTM, Yaşar Ersoy  stated that Nicosia is testifying for the first  time to such event and he added that the parade was very enthusiastic

Besides, Ersoy has also thanked to the equips which attend the 6th International Folk Dance Festival on behalf of NTM. Ersoy added that  the 6th International Folk Dance Festival is being organized with the collaboration of the Nicosia Folklore Association, Folk Arts Association (HAS-DER) and Youth Center.

At their speeches, the Deputy Mayor Celal Cin, the council members Fatma Sabri, Bülent Çıraklı and Turgay Kara thanked to everyone who supports the Celebration Events.

Withinthe framework of the 50th Anniversary Celebration events, today a fair will be inaugurated at Lefkoşa Ankara Çağlayan Park. The fair which will continue until  24th August, will be open to the visits everyday between 18.00-24.00.

The 6th International Folk Dance Festival will also take place within the framework of the 50th Anniversary Celebration events. As part of the festival, besides the TRNC equips, equips from Turkey, Croatia, Italy, Serbia, Slovakia, Sierra Leone and Bulgaria  will also perform.

The first Folk Dance show will be realized tonight at 8:00 pm at Lefkoşa Ankara Çağlayan Park.

The following shows will take place at the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Park (Tomorrow night) ,at the Küçük Kaymaklı Barış Manço Park ( Thursday night ). All the shows will start at 8:00 pm.

The 6th International Folk Dance Festival  will  end with a gala program on Saturday  at Selimiye Square.

Within the framework of the 50th Anniversary Celebration events,  the 6th Cyprus Theatre Festival will start on 2nd September 2008.
