NTM and Veterinary Office started the permit process and echinococcus controls.

Echinococcus controls and permit process that Nicosia Turkish Municipality (NTM) and Veterinary Office organized, started yesterday.

Echinococcus controls and permit process, that are implemented at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (next to the vehicle inspection place at Industrial Area), are done between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m. The Controls will continue until September, 19th.

Stating that struggle against echinococcus is very significant for public health, the Head of NTM Environmental Health Department, Veterinary Surgeon Şafak Alibaba indicated that this disease spreads from animal excreta to grass, feed, water and therefore to people by mouth.

Alibaba who emphasized that the said disease causes death on people, connoted that in order to be protected from the disease; it is important not to feed the dogs with uncooked sheep offals and to vaccinate the dogs periodically.
