The mayor of Nicosia Turkish Municipality, Cemal Bulutoğluları made an official statement about the layoffs and denoted that the process has started today and that 35 members of staff will be discharged until the end of this month.

Bulutoğluları connoted that they already got 2 warnings from the Auditor General’s office about decreasing the number of the staff and according to this, they had to decrease the number of employees against their will.

When he first started his duty there was no number limitation for the personel, but the Municipal Laws were modified during his period and has been put a number limit, Mr. Bulutoğluları stated that unfortunately at the first stage 28, and until the end of the month, 35 people’s jobs would be ended.

Mr. Bulutoğluları connoted that they had to reach the predicted number which the Auditor General’s office has set, so the job aborts will continue. Mr. Bulutoğluları added that the layoffs are done by considering the staff performance evaluation.
