The Mayor of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality (NTM), Cemal Bulutoğluları  stated that the cleaning of the city is a whole issue and added that what is important is not to dirty the environment while the Municipality implements the cleaning works. Uttering that the Cleaning Department is working for 24 hours a day, Bulutoğluları emphasized that the citizens should also do their civic duties about the cleanliness of the city. Underlining that the real owner of Nicosia is the public of the city, Bulutoğluları added that the citizens should take care of the city as if it is their own house or garden.

Cleaning Campaign Just Before 20th July NTM Cleaning Department started a cleaning campaign all over Nicosia just before the 20th July Peace and Freedom Festival. Within the framework of the cleaning campaign, the Nicosia Turkish Municipality started its works by trimming the trees on the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Avenue, cleaning the herbs and the empty lands as well as collecting the garbage with a team of 50 persons.

Efe: “Please do not put your garbages to the empty lands”

The Deputy Town Clerk responsible for the cleaning works of the NTM, Aşkan Cemal Efe indicated that the Municipality will continue its works for Nicosians to live in a healthier, cleaner, more beautiful and modern environment. Denoting that the public should help the Municipalities about the environmental clean-up, Efe said: “Our citizens shouldn’t put their garbages out to empty lands or to the streets and they should put their garbages in front of their  houses on the days that the Municipality does the collection.’’
