Replacing works of the asbestos water pipes, and terminating the use of these pipes were started at Köşklüçiftlik. In this context, the works will take place first in areas like: Osman Pasha Street, 2nd Selim Street, and Mehmet Akif Avenue.

10.250 meter water pipe and 861 water meter will be replaced with the cooperation of Sütçüoğlu LTD., and Republic of Turkey. It is planned to complete the project in 8 months, and it will cost around 1 million Turkish Liras.

Works are continuing in other regions

While the replacing works are ongoing in numerous areas, Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu General Hospital area is also in the replacing process. After complication of these areas, replacing works will take part at the Marmara and Taşkınköy regions. Tarmac Asphalt and Concrete Construction Company is managing the project. According to the project, 44.885 meter water pipes and 3061 water meter will be replaced. The project was financed by the Financial Aid Programme of the European Union and actualized with the cooperation of the UNDP.

Regarding the matter, Water Works Chief Fikri Özgüvenli mentioned that, the long term goals will be beneficial with the HDPE pipes. Özgüvenli also added that, the replacing works are planned to be finished in the near future.
