Senior citizens of Nicosia celebrated the new year at Malpas

The Nicosia Turkish Municipality (NTM) gave a new year dinner on 23rd December, 2009 at Malpas Hotel to a hundred senior citizens who are the members of the European Services to senior citizens. The senior citizens who were selected through lottery, both closed the year of 2009 with fun and spent enjoyable hours with each other. During this special entertainment that the Mayor of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality Cemal Bulutoğluları attended as well,  favorite artists of our country, illusionists and comedy masters took stage and entertained the senior citizens. 

Bulutogluları: “When our senior citizens have enjoyable hours it makes us happy.”

Cemal Bulutoğluları, the Mayor of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality, said that they are taking care of the senior citizens during 365 days of the year and he added that they organized the new year dinner  for the senior citizens who were selected on a random basis. Emphasizing that they are paying close attention to the health and socio-cultural needs of the senior citizens who are the members of this project, Bulutogluları denoted that their aim is to provide happy, peaceful and healthy life at the last phase of their lives and said  that they will do whatever they can for this aim. Bulutogluları said: “I give the highest respect to our senior citizens. I wish them healthy, peaceful and a happy life during the new year. We are always supporting our senior citizens and we will always continue to do so.”

Aybar: “I am wishing a happy new year to 2400 valuable members”

Head of the unit of European services to senior citizens of NTM, Hasan Aybar denoted that the Municipality is giving a special importance to senior citizens and everyday they provide municipal services to reach 2400 senior citizens. Aybar connoted that they have been organizing special activities regularly on special days for senior citizens for many years and they are giving them presents. Aybar also reminded that they are visiting senior citizens in their own houses and giving them presents for bayram. “We got an invitation for a new year organization from a hotel. We drew a lottery amongst the regions because of the limited quota. As a result of the drawing, Marmara and Taşkınköy regions were selected” said Aybar. ‘‘We took our senior citizens to Malpas Hotel. At the hotel we entertained them with our local artists, illusionists, comedians, and organized a delicious dinner. We think that we made our senior citizens very happy and that they had a very nice day. We are thinking of organizing activities similar to this one for the upcoming year. I wish them all a happy new year’’ he added.
